Details: Location: Bourne Meadow, St Mary Bourne, Andover, SP11 6BE
St Mary Bourne, situated in the centre of the beautiful Bourne Valley, is inside the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just 5 miles to the north east of Andover, close to Whitchurch and is easily accessible from the A34, A303 and A343 for county wide events. We would be pleased to show you what we have to offer.
Some 13 years ago, nearly everyone in the parish of St Mary Bourne was involved in building a new village hall. When the new St Mary Bourne Village Centre opened in April 1993, 300.000 had been raised [and spent without a penny owing] through a tremendous community effort, and understandably people still feel proud of that achievement.
Today the Village Centre is a successfully managed village asset with healthy finances, run by a committee of trustees and volunteers within the framework of a new constitution devised by the Charity Commissioners.
The St Mary Bourne Village Centre overlooks a picturesque Recreation Ground with adjoining lake, bowling green, new games & sports area, play ground and Village Shop with Post Office. There are excellent car parking facilities.
The Main Hall The big hall is used for many purposes, from private parties, theatrical performances and film shows to auctions and sporting activities. It is large enough for 120 guests to sit at tables with room for dancing, or it can seat 200 in rows for meetings. Well-equipped kitchen and bar facilities lead directly off the hall. A stage is also available for those wishing to use it.
The Sound System The availability of a comprehensive sound system for the Village Centre has added a new dimension. This system comprises loudspeakers, fixed and radio microphones, stereo CD player, stereo cassette tape deck and a professional mixing console, and is available for hire by existing and new users within the Village Centre. It is ideal for village and public meetings, lectures, theatre performances, discos, concerts and recordings.
Committee Room This smaller upstairs room can accommodate 20 or so around tables, or 50 to 60 people standing. With access to the kitchen and toilets downstairs, it is well suited for committee meetings, smaller displays, social occasions or buffet-type parties.
Clubroom The 'home' of the Pre-School Play Group. Larger than the committee room, having its own separate entrance from that of the main hall, the Clubroom is self-contained with its own small kitchen and toilet. It is ideal for functions for which the main hall is too large. It is especially suited for activities that involve children, such as discos and birthday parties.
Summary Although the Village Centre is primarily for the use of the local community, it is available for, and also welcomes, other outside bookings. Hire charges are very reasonable and there has been little increase for some years (see below). From 24 November 2005 the Village Centre has been granted a Premises License in accordance with the Licensing Act 2003. This includes a licence to sell/provide alcohol for consumption on the premises. See more details below.
Bookings: If you are looking for an excellent venue at a very reasonable cost for your private party, charity function, dance, business meeting, conference and exhibition, family celebration, or any other function, contact Inez Bushnell on tel: 01264 738650.
